Paint Touch Up and Stone Chip repair

Will a stone chip ever look as great as factory?
Since touch ups are done by hand, they'll never match the uniformity of a respray. However, they are a great way to prevent rust and further damage on stone chip sites. That being said, we do source quality and accurate factory paint, and take our time to ensure a level finish with the surrounding paintwork to be as discrete as possible.

To summarise; A touchup would never match a respray - A respray would never match a factory finish that's dialled in with machines to be consistent over tousands of vehicles that leave the factory floor.
A respray carries an entirely different set of risks - such as improper matches, sub-quality materials, poor surface prep leading to premature paint failure, to name a few.

When done with the correct preparation and technique, appropriate tools and quality materials, the finish achievable is great. With our technique, take the time to ensure factory-spec paint is evenly distributed and cured into touch up sites, to leave behind a discrete repair. 

What kind of finish can I expect from a stonechip repair?
The finish would depend heavily on the type of paint we're carrying out the repair on.
Flat colours usually turn out great and often end up being very discrete on the damaged sites

Metalling and pearlescents are multi-stage paints. The base coats for these paints actually cure matte. As such, clear coat is required to be added over the repair sites to match the surrounding paint. This added complexity in paint chemistry means achiving an indistingushable varies greatly based on the type of damage and how much room there is to fill paint into. 

That being said, we rely on quality tools and materials to achieve the most discrete repair and finish

What type of damage can be repaired by touch up?
Minor rock chips, and the odd minor scuff are often the ideal candidates for a touch up.
Damage around 5mm in diameter usually finishes well. Anything larger tends to prove troublesome with paint distribution and curing - and can affect the level of finish achievable. 

Major corner scrapes typically aren't that well-suited for touch ups. These are best left for resprays.
However, we'd be more than happy to consult and advise the best route for repair for the level of finish you desire.
